It is with heavy hearts that we address the tragic outcomes of Vagicon 2022.

The decision to host our developer conference in an active hurricane zone was made with the best of intentions, as we believed the "dynamic weather conditions" would foster innovation and team bonding. We extend our deepest sympathies to the 23 families who lost loved ones when the main venue tent was relocated by wind to a nearby interstate highway.

While our meteorological consultant assured us that Hurricane Marcus would "probably miss us," we now acknowledge that "probably" may not have been sufficient assurance for an outdoor event housing 3,000 attendees.

We have learned our lesson about weather forecasting and will not repeat the same mistake in the future.
